When I faced a critical time last year, I had the desire just to leave everything! said Chinara who is a Christian business owner in Central Asia, a largely Muslim region. She has faced economic difficulty over the past year, just as many other business owners have experienced worldwide. Chinara sells cell phones and their accessories. In addition, she has opened a floral shop. Her business has four employees; two of them are Christians.

Chinara says, Everyone who is connected with us through business observes the way we work and communicate! Ninety-seven percent of the population here are native to this region, and most of those are orthodox Muslims.

East-West Ministries is reaching out to people like Chinara through a ministry called Simplex, which teaches business owners how to start and run a business. This "Business as Ministry" concept is an effective method of reaching countries that block missionaries but encourage business training courses. Simplex empowers these entrepreneurs to support themselves while increasing their witness for Christ in their cities as well as their nations. 

Chinara sees her mission as expanding the family of Christ through her personal and business testimony. Some neighbors watch us cautiously, knowing that we are Christians, and they are surprised that we are thriving. As a result, they have started frequenting my business more often.

Chinara continues, Simplex helped me because before, I didn’t understand bookkeeping at all.  After taking the course, I wrote a business plan. For me, this was like winning a victory over Goliath! 

Chinara is one of the people whom God has strategically placed in a country that you and I cannot enter that has been impacted by the East-West Ministries’ Business as Ministry efforts. With further training, she will become an active church planter, and many people will come to know the Lord through her business and ministry efforts.
